The 3 Best Apps to Use with your Digital Planner

Using a digital planner can bring a sense of fun and peace of mind to your day… if you use the right app. There are many out there that claim to be the best, but we’ve found only 3 that really have the full capability of taking your planning game to the next level. Don’t believe us? Keep reading and see how easy it is to start planning the life of your dreams from the comfort of your tablet.

Goodnotes

Goodnotes, available on iOS/iPadOS and Mac, is an app best known for its all-around ability to turn an iPad into a customizable digital notebook. With everything from its powerful handwriting recognition to its side by side document layout, it will really have you forgetting all about your old looseleaf troubles. When it comes to ease of use, this planner is fantastic for three main reasons:

  • You can duplicate pages with the click of a button and rearrange them with a simple drag & drop.
  • Your pages can be organized into folders, subfolders, and notebooks.
  • Those pages you find yourself coming back to time and time again can be found within seconds just by adding a bookmark that will show up in your Favourites Tab.

Another reason we love this planner is its homage to OG journal planners. It flaunts many loved features such as notebook covers, 3 pen styles, and stickers for added touches of personalization.

Notability

Next comes Notability. This subscription-based app, also available on iOS/iPadOS and Mac, is top tier when it comes to its multitude of features. With its impressive ability to record and playback audio, it's hard to believe there's anything this note-taking app can't do. Similar to Goodnotes, many of its features enhance its user’s in-app experience, making planner use a breeze.

Not only does Notability allow its users to duplicate pages with a simple copy & paste, but planner organization is also made easier with its with its ability to create customizable dividers and subjects.

Writing in-app is enhanced with its responsive pens & double-tap feature to switch between tools. And you’ll be happy to know that your personalization options are endless with its ability to add photos, webpages, and even GIFs.

Noteshelf

Last, but definitely not least, is Noteshelf.

First of all, Noteshelf is available on both Apple and Android devices. Not only that, but this note-taking app features the best of both Goodnotes & Noteability, giving you the ability to add covers, personalization options, and record audio. In terms of user experience, this app takes the cake with its ability to:

  • Simply import new documents with the click of a button
  • Password-protect the pages of your choosing
  • Never lose track of your favourited pages with its detailed bookmarking capabilities (which includes colour coding and tagging)

Not to mention, if you like versatility, you’ll love this app. Its ability to switch between stylus models makes it a top choice for those of us with multiple devices.

No matter which app you choose, it’s very easy to transition to a digital planner without straying away from your existing planning routine or letting go of the features you love most about planning on paper. So don’t be afraid to give it a try!
